Fright is Afoot in Downtown
As we all know it's that time of year….the spooky season is upon us here in the Heart of the Ozarks. Everywhere you look the candy, decorations and advertisements keep us well aware of the ghosts and goblins, scary movies, and overall ghastliness of the season. We at West Plains Downtown don't want you to forget the fun times to be had all over the downtown area this Halloween season.
To get it started this year, what could be better than an afternoon and evening of classic scary movies at the Avenue Theater? Starting at 3pm on the 19th and running until 11:30pm join the fun and scares of “A Night of Thrills and Chills”, if you dare! For more information contact the Avenue Theater.
Why not follow that up with something a little closer to home. On the 26th at 6pm join your friends at the Ozark Research Heritage Center on MSU-WP Campus for the "History, Legends and Noir of the Ozarks". Who knows, you may find out something about the area that’ll bring a scream!!
Then on October 26th beginning at 11AM the Yellow House will be offering the first ever "Josiah Howell-o-ween Day". Come celebrate the founding family of Howell County with an afternoon of costumes, vendors, music, and so much more.
Finishing out the scary good times will be the annual "Scare on the Square" on Court Square Halloween night. Join West Plains Downtown for face painting, photo booths, games, and fun for the whole family from 5:30 to 7:30, with many downtown merchants and organizations offering candy for trick-or-treaters.
And while you’re there check out the terrifying “Haunting at the Theater” put on by the Fine Arts Academy at the Avenue Theater. But don’t worry if you’re its too scary to attend on Halloween night….the fright continues Nov. 1st. Both nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.

Above all, have a hauntingly good time this Halloween and don't forget, there's always something happening downtown.
